A Las Vegas resident has been sentenced to 18 months probation for a felony conviction of voting twice in the 2020 presidential election, officials announced today.
Mark White pleaded guilty to casting ballots in Las Vegas and Kingman, Ariz., officials said. The election saw President Joe Biden defeat then-incumbent President Donald Trump by narrow margins in both Nevada and Arizona.
“As I have repeatedly and consistently said, we will prosecute any credible allegations of voter fraud that are uncovered,” Attorney General Aaron Ford said in a statement. “Voter fraud undercuts trust in our institutions and is a direct attack on our system of democracy.”
Clark County District Judge Jennifer Schwartz on Wednesday also gave White a suspended 12-to-36 month jail sentence. The case was investigated by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office.
“Nevada runs some of the most secure elections in the country, and that means investigating any potential instances of fraud,” Secretary of State Cisco Aguilar said in a statement. “I’m grateful to the law enforcement officers in the Secretary of State’s office for all of their effort on election cases, and to the Attorney General’s Office for showing what happens when you try to undermine our democracy.”
Resident Donald Kirk Hartle also voted twice in the 2020 election, casting a ballot for his deceased wife.
Hartle, a Trump supporter, initially said he was surprised to learn someone had voted using his deceased wife’s name.
Turns out, he was lying to advance another lie — that there was Democrat-led voter fraud in Biden’s win.
