LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV’s Meadow Roland has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week, the conference announced today.
The 6-foot-2 redshirt freshman forward averaged a double-double of 10 points and 13 rebounds through the first two games and helped the Lady Rebels to a 2-0 start for the fourth consecutive season. In her debut against LMU, she scored 11 points off the bench and brought down 10 rebounds, which led UNLV. Roland shot 4-for-6 from the field, 1-for-1 from three and 2-for-2 at the free throw line against the Lions. In just the first half against LMU, Roland had five defensive rebounds.
The Fresno, California native stayed hot under the hoop, as she brought down a season/career-high 16 rebounds against Northern Arizona. She blocked her first shot on her first attempt against the Lumberjacks in the second quarter. Roland was one-point shy of her second double-double against NAU with nine points.
UNLV takes its first road trip of the season to visit Arizona on Tuesday, November 12 with tip-off set for 5 p.m. PT. The game will be live on ESPN+ (subscription required).
