LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Southern Nevada Water Authority released the winter watering schedule.
The schedule is mandatory starting Friday, Nov. 1. Officials say valley residents and businesses need to change their irrigation clocks to water only on the one assigned watering day per week.
The schedule is in effect from Friday to Feb. 28.
SWNA also reminds residents that Sunday watering is prohibited year-round. Fees start at $80 and increase for repeat violations.
To maximize water savings and manage monthly water bills, SWNA provided these tips:
- Water mid-morning to avoid freezing and prevent ice from forming on lawns and sidewalks.
- Adjust your irrigation clock to coincide with the end of Daylight-Saving Time at 2 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 3.
- Set your drip system to water plants and trees once a week or less, as they need much less water than grass.
