LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Cracking the case of who killed Reba the bulldog could come down to DNA evidence.
She’s the bulldog who was left to die in a tote bin over the summer in brutal Las Vegas temperatures.
FOX5 has learned from several animal rescue groups in the valley that Metro Police recently called a local animal non-profit, asking for something very specific out of the blue.
That’s because it’s already been a monthslong investigation to find out who did this to Reba, and several weeks after the department released this surveillance footage, asking the public to help the department identify who these people are, in the area where the dog was found.
In the video, you can clearly see a white sedan driving up to where she was found by a dumpster near Maryland Parkway and Twain Avenue in July.
Bryce Henderson with No Kill Las Vegas says he’s encouraged by the phone call, and thinks it means the department is getting closer to finding out who did this.
“So recently, Metro did reach out to Vegas Pet Rescue Project and ask if they had any samples of Reba’s hair. They said they couldn’t say anymore. They couldn’t say why they needed it, and they said they’re working on it daily,” Henderson said. “I can only imagine they were looking to maybe DNA test it.”
One of the organizers of the Vegas Pet Rescue Project says she asked Metro if that means the department is getting closer to solving this, and they said they can’t talk about that, but they are making progress.
The organizer adds they do have the dog’s ashes.
FOX5 reached out to Metro after hours and will update this story when we hear back.
If you want to help in the search for justice for Reba, the Vegas Pet Rescue Project is holding its first Justice For Reba Pickleball Tournament.
It’s November 23rd at the Red Rock Country Club.
