LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Saturday was the first day of in-person early voting for Nevadans. FOX5 visited a Las Vegas polling site where turnout was steady, and voters were passionate.
“It’s important to me to vote. I mean, for me, it’s our civic responsibility,” said voter Brian Franta.
“It’s so important that we vote so we can change some things. We are the people and have the power,” said voter Deanna Langer.
At Silverado Ranch Community Center, the parking lot was full, and there was a line out the door as voters waited to cast their ballots.
“We always do it; we do it early. I love to see the turnout out here. There’s a lot of people out here. That’s great to see,” said voter Jamie Franta.
“I always voted on November 5th, and this is the second time that I have voted early in my life,” said Langer. “I did it because it’s so important to me who wins this election.”
Nevadans voting early Saturday chose their pick for the next president and took a stance on the issues that matter most to them.
“The national elections are very, very important, but to me, it’s more about the local politics, because that will affect you more than any national election there is,” said Brian Franta.
Jamie Franta said she’s hopeful that the next generation of voter with fulfill their democratic duty as well. “The young people I talk to at my job had a plan already. When I brought it up this week, they knew what to do, and a lot of them mailed in their ballots. I’m very encouraged. The young people are going to vote, I believe, I hope.”
In-person early voting runs through November 1 for Nevadans.
“Just make a time, make a plan, and come out and vote,” said Jamie Franta.
