LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man is dead after an early Sunday morning hit-and-run west of the Las Vegas Strip.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the initial crash occurred around 4:41 a.m. on West Sahara Avenue, east of the intersection with South Valley View Boulevard.
An initial investigation indicated that a white 2021 Honda Accord sedan was traveling east on Sahara. At the same time, a 55-year-old man was crossing Sahara outside of a marked crosswalk.
A crash occurred when the man entered the Honda’s path and was struck on his left side by the front of the vehicle. The Honda then fled the scene.
Police added that the man died at the scene.
“The pedestrian’s death marks the 122nd traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction,” LVMPD noted in a release. “This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.”
