LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – In four short years, Las Vegas could have it’s own art museum.
During Wednesday’s city council meeting, project members revealed details for plans of the Las Vegas Museum of Art as the council approved the project.
The museum will have until Jan. 1, 2027 to close a deal on the land with Red Ridge Development. If everything goes to plan on this timeline, project members say construction could start as early as 2026 with an expected opening for late 2028.
The museum would be located at 302 S. City Parkway between the Smith Center and Core Arena.
“We talk a lot about development happening on the Strip and around the City, but we always look at Symphony Park as being for the locals,” said Patrick Brennan, CEO of Red Ridge Development.
The project will take on 90,000 square feet to host three indoor galleries along with a gift shop, cafe and outdoor exhibition area on a 1.5 acre lot. Parking would not be included in the project but members noted existing parking garages in the surrounding area.
One of the active partners in the museum’s development will include the Los Angeles County Museum of Art – the larges museum on the west coast.
