LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department changed their monthly in-person First Tuesday event to a virtual version on Facebook Tuesday.
The topic was how the public can help police solve crimes.
They emphasized the “See something, say something” mantra, especially in the digital age.
Metro Lt. Bill Steinmetz said, “These days we have a little but of an over reliance on technology. We’ve grown very dependent on it. I think with that comes a little bit of an opportunity for the public to think often times, oh that other person will call or some sort of camera or technology will catch that.”
Steinmetz continued, “But that’s not always the case. So that partnership with the community and them reaching out to report crimes is really important to us.”
Metro police also shared how you can register your home surveillance camera to allow police to use that footage to help solve crimes.
