Redden is facing charges of attempted murder, battery, intimidating a public officer, among many others. In a video that went viral on social media earlier this year, Redden could be seen leaping over the bench to tackle and punch Judge Mary Kay Holthus while yelling expletives.
Redden’s sister and foster mom revealed that Redden suffers from schizophrenia during a press conference in January. They added that was not on his medication when he attacked Judge Holthus.
“I just think that his actions were not premeditated, it was triggered because he seemed to have been pleading for his freedom,” Ladonna Daniels, Redden’s sister said.
Before the trial begins, Redden is due back in court again on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
