LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – As the Las Vegas Strip gears up for the demolition of the Tropicana, a hotel spokesperson says spectators can also enjoy fireworks and a drone show.
Bally’s Corporation tells FOX5 that the festivities – and the main event – will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 9. The dazzling visuals will be engineered by Fireworks by Grucci, followed by the hotel’s implosion at 2:30 a.m.

The iconic 1950-era hotel first announced plans for a Fall demolition in March and closed its doors on April 2. The county was officially issued a commercial demolition permit in April, alongside efforts to remove asbestos from the property.
The filing requested the implosion of the 22-story Tropicana Club alongside its 22-story Paradise Tower. This will clear the way for the Oakland A’s to begin construction on its planned $1.5 billion ballpark.
The permit is currently pending.
