LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two Henderson men were indicted by a federal grand jury for reportedly damaging ancient rock formations at Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
The indictment accuses Wyatt Clifford Fain, 37 and Payden David Guy Cosper, 31, for pushing large rock formations for a cliff onto the ground near the Redstone Dunes Trail at Lake Mead.
The United States Department of Justice estimates $1,000 in damages.
Fain and Cosper were each charged with one count of injury and depredation of government property and one count of aiding and abetting, officials say.
They were arrested by the United States Marshals Service, and they made their initial court appearance Friday before United States Magistrate Judge Nancy Koppe.
A jury trial has been scheduled for Oct. 8 before United States District Judge Jennifer Dorsey.
If convicted, the defendants could each face up to ten years imprisonment.
