LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – New video shows the alleged “random” shooting of a Las Vegas carpet cleaner in March, which was used as evidence in a Grand Jury indictment.
Kayla Alery, 27, is accused of killing Raul Cardoza, 41, at an apartment complex near Spring Mountain and Fort Apache on March 27. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police allege that Alery shot into the window of a work van and killed Cardoza.
New evidence provided to the Grand Jury shows a rideshare driver parked at the complex. A suspect wearing all black is seen in the background walking behind the vehicle, then appears on the other side and fires a shot inside the work van. The driver looks around stunned, says a profanity and then exits the vehicle.
Additional video shows the arrest of Alery from aerial footage and body-worn camera.
Jurors were also shown graphic coroner photos, photos of the suspect, the gun allegedly used in the crime and the photo of the van.
Police told FOX5 in March that there was “no indication at all” that the victim had any prior interaction with the suspect.
The next court hearing for Alery was set for Feb. 6, 2025.
