NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 17-year-old motorcyclist died after hitting a pickup truck on the 215 beltway, Nevada State Police says.
The crash happened Thursday on I-215 west of the Aviary Way overpass. This is between Aliante Parkway and Decatur Boulevard.
Police said the motorcyclist, identified by the Clark County coroner as Isaiah Banuelos, traveled westbound weaving through traffic and splitting lanes at a “high rate of speed.”
Banuelos noticed that traffic was slowing down and braked. According to police, this caused the motorcycle to overturn and eject the rider. He hit the right rear of a Dodge Ram.
The crash caused the Ram to rotate. But the driver made a controlled stop on to the left shoulder of the westbound 215.
The driver of the Ram stayed on scene and cooperated with officers.
Police said Banuelos died at the scene. FOX5 verified a GoFundMe for Banuelos. Those interested could find it here.
The investigation is being conducted by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol – Traffic Homicide Unit.
