LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Employees at the Rio Hotel & Casino endured a recent round of layoffs, but the number of employees affected remains unclear.
A hotel spokesperson told FOX5 on Friday that the layoffs did happen, but did not provide any estimate of how many were affected and in which departments.
The following statement was provided by the property:
This news comes after the hotel launched a $340 million renovation, which began in January. This renovation includes remodeled rooms, a revamped convention hall, and a brand-new marquee.
Last November, the hotel announced plans to fill over 100 positions within its new food hall, which replaced its famous Carnival World Buffet earlier this year.
In May, the property also announced the hiring of its new President and CEO Patrick Miller, who has played a key role in the renovation. Miller was also responsible for overseeing the transition of the Monte Carlo into Park MGM.
FOX5 has followed up with the Rio for further details on the layoffs but has not yet heard back.
