LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas man was shot and killed by police in Irvine, California after stabbing his mother to death on Thursday.
Irvine Police Department identified 37-year-old Paul Parvea Montazer, a Las Vegas resident, as the suspect in the killing. His victim was identified as his 72-year-old mother, Parvin Montazer.
IPD officers responded to reports of a man chasing a woman with a knife around 2:51 p.m. Arriving officers observed the man attacking the woman, and tried to intervene.
Police say the suspect then advanced towards officers, who fired at him in return.
The suspect and his mother were provided medical aid by officers, but both would die at the scene.
The incident remains under investigation, though detectives do not believe there are any additional suspects.
