LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The driver in a suspected DUI crash that killed her 9-year-old niece is out of custody, according to court records.
North Las Vegas Justice Court records show Christina Sorensen, 63, posted bond on Monday, two days after the crash. Her bail had been set at $100,000 and she posted $10,000 through a bail bondsman, records show.
Sorensen is accused of driving a Corvette under the influence while her niece, 9-year-old Sophia Sandoval, was in the front passenger seat.
North Las Vegas Police detectives said they believed Sorensen to be under the influence because she couldn’t confirm if the light was red or green at the time of the crash, and because she was “emotionless considering the injuries of her passenger.” Police said they believed Sorensen was under the influence of narcotics.
Sorensen had a court hearing set for Wednesday morning.
