LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A mother and son tell FOX5 they are counting their blessings and grateful to be alive after a sign crashed down just inches from their car.
It happened Monday evening in a parking lot near Pecos Road and Washington Avenue.
Sharon Boucher and her son, Chase, told FOX5 they were making a quick stop at a nearby 7/11.
“You think you are going to get hot Cheetos and a Slurpee one minute and the next a whole sign can be on top of your car,” Boucher said.
The mother and son were back in their car when seconds later, they saw the sign coming down.
“I was about to turn on Pecos and we thought it was thunder but when I turned it was the sign that was coming down,” Boucher said.
To their surprise, the sign barely missed them.
“I just put my head on my steering wheel and thanked god that someone was definitely on our side,” Boucher said.
A few days later, Boucher and her son went back to the scene with FOX5 and realized it may have been a small concrete barrier that stopped the sign from falling directly onto of their car.
Winds did pick up Monday, but it is still unclear what would have caused the massive sign to go down.
“It’s definitely a reminder of how quick things can change around you and how life can be short,” Boucher said.
