LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 52-year-old man died Thursday, almost a month after being struck by a car in the northern valley.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the crash occurred on North Martin Luther King Boulevard, south of West Lake Mead Boulevard, around 9:38 p.m.
An initial investigation found that the man crossed MLK outside of a marked crosswalk, while a 2016 Dodge Charger was traveling north. The Dodge struck the man, redirecting him into the roadway, and remained at the scene.
Police say the driver did not show any signs of impairment.
The man was transported to UMC Trauma and his injuries were initially determined to be non-life-threatening. However, on Thursday, July 11, LVMPD learned that the man died from his injuries.
“Due to his death occurring beyond the state of Nevada’s thirty-day reportable limit, the death will not be counted as a traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
