LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Longtime Las Vegas residents are feeling the heat as the valley is hit with a historic heat wave.
“Yeah, I’m done with Vegas. I’m done with this heat,” said Candy Fuller, a 25-year Las Vegas resident. “I’m ready to move back to California next week. I can’t handle this hot weather anymore. This is the first time it’s ever been like this.”
It was another day of scorching temperatures in Las Vegas Saturday, which tied the record high of 115 degrees for July 6.
“You never really get used to it. It feels like every summer it gets hotter,” said 35-year Las Vegas resident Michael Peetz.

While others braved the heat waiting for the bus at an RTC transit center.
“When you got to wait in this heat, it’s not fun,” said bus passenger Cris Pena. “If there’s no shade at the bus stop itself, I go into a local business inside somewhere close by, and I wait for the bus like that.”
“It’s hot. It gets hot, really. Like my mother says, she says stay hydrated, always drink water, buy lots of water, so I’ve been doing that lately,” said Peetz. “I always wear sunblock as much as I can, I go inside to cool off.”
And if this heat wave has you fired up — just wait. The Las Vegas Valley is expecting high temperatures of 116 to 118 degrees for the next week.
“Gotta stay hydrated so I don’t pass out,” said Pena. “It’s tough. This heat is not good for anybody.”
“Stay as cool as you possibly can. Do like my mother said, drink lots of water, stay hydrated,” said Peetz.
