LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A Las Vegas Valley La Bonita supermarket reopened today after an awning collapse forced it to close in 2021.
Four people were injured during the partial building collapse in August, 2021. The awning of the storefront fell due to an undetermined “structural deficiency,” Clark County Fire Battalion Chief Steve Broadwell said at the time.
A windstorm was blamed for the damage, and the market reported that it was nearly finished with renovations last fall. It had hoped to open before the end of 2023. It announced a delay in January, citing unexpected delays in the construction phase of the process.
La Bonita announced its reopening on social media.
The market previously said it intended to hire 120 employees, including former workers displaced by the closure, when it reopened.
