LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Nevada Department of Public Safety has reported a spike in the number of deadly crashes in the state.
According to DPS, newly released data shows that there have been 167 fatalities in crashes so far in 2024, a 17% increase from last year. All but 41 of those deaths happened in southern Nevada.
The department said that 53 pedestrians were killed and 23 people who died weren’t wearing seatbelts in vehicles. DPS added that impairment and speeding were the top contributing factors in deadly crashes.
