LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A wildfire has been reported in a rural area southwest of the Las Vegas valley on Monday afternoon.
The fire, which has been dubbed the “Bird Springs Wildfire,” is currently burning at around 150 acres, in the Mountain Springs area near Pahrump Valley Highway.
The fire is located seven miles east of Mountain Springs along State Route 160 and it’s inside Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
The Great Basin Coordination Center noted that the fire was initially reported around 11:40 a.m. Officials say the fire is “human caused” and is under investigation.
30 firefighters have been assigned to the fire, the Bureau of Land Management says. No structures are threatened and no roads are closed, officials say.
