LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Animal Foundation is introducing two new volunteer opportunities pairing kids with dogs in need of homes with the hope of making those animals more adoptable.
Local children ages 6-17 are invited to take part in the Book Buddies and Sketch-A-Pet programs, where they can either read to dogs or draw them. The goal is to help dogs who have displayed fear, stress and anxiety get used to being around kids so they can eventually go home with families.
An Animal Foundation spokesperson said that the programs not only help dogs calm down and decompress, but they also socialize animals, making them more adoptable.
