LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – FOX5 obtained documents that reveal what a former Las Vegas Police employee allegedly stole from inmates while she was employed.
63-year-old Peggy Lee Hendrix is accused of stealing about $1,500 worth of items from inmates. A report says that it was all caught on video.
According to the report, the theft started on April 2 this year on four separate days. She reportedly stole from 5 different inmates and took items such as phones, jewelry, bags and a suitcase.
The report notes that she used the suitcase to place the other items inside and exit the Clark County Detention Center.
On April 16, the report says Hendrix took another cellphone and food valued around $100. This theft was reportedly caught on video and she was seen exiting CCDC with all of the items.
On May 7, Hendrix was arrested by officers around 5:55 p.m. after being caught stealing a phone from an inmate earlier that day.
Police accuse Hendrix of “willfully and knowingly taking property from the inmates with intent to permanently derive them of their items.”
She faces a felony theft charge. She was released and ordered to stay out of trouble. According to court records, she is due back in court for a status check on June 11 at 8 a.m.
