LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A man in his 70s was crossing Sahara Avenue outside a crosswalk and failed to yield to a motorcyclist causing a crash, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department says.
The crash happened Wednesday night around 9:45 p.m. on Sahara Avenue east of Las Vegas Boulevard. The pedestrian is listed under critical condition and was transported from the scene by UMC Trauma staff.
Surveillance footage and evidence at the scene indicated that a 43-year-old motorcyclist traveled eastbound on Sahara Avenue riding a Harley Davidson. He was approaching the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard while the man was crossing Sahara, the traffic report says.
Police said the pedestrian failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcyclist and was was struck inside the eastbound travel lane.
The motorcyclist remained on scene and did not show any signs of impairment, police said.
“This collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section,” police said.
