LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – One person is dead and another was injured after a fire at a high-rise near UNLV early Monday morning.
The fire started around 5:35 a.m. May 6 at 3930 University Center, north of Flamingo Road. An online search identifies the building as the Wimbledon Tennis Club Condos. The building was described by Clark County Fire Department as a 10-story residential high-rise.
Responding units found smoke upon reaching the 5th floor of the building. They found the unit where the fire had started with one victim, who they removed from the unit, and another victim that was able to move down the hallway before both were taken away for medical care.
CCFD said one person died and the other sustained moderate to severe burns, but was described as stable. Three dogs were also removed from the building but CCFD said they appeared to be doing well and are with animal control.
American Red Cross was called to assist with any displacement, but no residents requested assistance, CCFD said.
CCFD said the cause of the fire is undetermined and the damage is estimated at $200,000.
