LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The motorcyclist in a serious suspected DUI crash suffered major injuries, including two broken legs and broken pelvis.
David Degood, 72, is facing a DUI charge after the crash Sunday morning near Eastern and Wigwam.
According to police, Degood was driving a white Toyota minivan and “failed to yield the right of way” to the motorcyclist while pulling out of a private driveway.
Police said the victim suffered two broken legs, a broken pelvis, a brain bleed and a severed artery.
Degood told police he had just left the dispensary and was headed home, and said he didn’t see the motorcycle coming, according to an arrest report.
Police evaluated the damage at the scene and determined that the motorcyclist wasn’t speeding, which would have superseded the right-of-way.
Police said Degood exhibited several signs of impairment.
According to court records, Degood was released on his own recognizance, but ordered to not use drugs or alcohol and to stay out of trouble. He’d ordered back in court May 13.
