The Vegas Chamber is also preparing to make its impact during the Clark County School District’s search for a new superintendent.
Vegas Chamber President Mary Beth Sewald says the chamber is calling for a nationwide search.
“We all know that the 300,000 students at CCSD are depending on all of us to work together to find the best superintendent of our schools, we owe it to them to be bold and we owe it to them to be visionary in this quest so it’s imperative for the Vegas Chamber and it’s imperative for this entire community,” said Mary Beth Sewald, Vegas Chamber President.
She says they’re looking for someone with a proven track record of performance based on factors like college and career readiness, math and reading proficiency, and high graduation rates.
Sewald also recommended the school board create a community advisory committee to assist in the search.
The conversation continues after the board of trustees voted 5 to 2 to approve Dr. Jesus Jara’s resignation with a $250,000 severance.
