LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Crews had to respond to a fire that broke out inside an elevator at a hotel south of the Las Vegas airport Tuesday morning.
A call came in for reports of smoke just before 2:30 a.m. at the DoubleTree on Pollack Drive, near Warm Springs Road and the 215 Beltway, the Clark County Fire Department said.
The fire was isolated to an unoccupied elevator car on the first floor, and firefighters put it out without it breaching the elevator shaft.
Nobody reported any injuries from the incident, according to the fire department.
There was no immediate word yet on what caused the fire. Extra resources were called to the scene because of the high occupancy inside the hotel.
Andres Valentin, a guest staying at the hotel, told News 3 that he started hearing an alarm and smelled smoke before he was evacuated.
“We were in the parking lot for roughly two hours,” Valentin said in Spanish. “After two hours, they moved us to the lobby to get away from the cold. They attended us with blankets and towels to warm up cause we left with just the clothes we had on.”
