Classic dining experiences abound at the center of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. At Caesars Palace, celebrate the fresh new Year of the Ox at two of the most cherished Chinese restaurants in the city—the casual and authentic Beijing Noodle No. 9 (877.346.4642), where an expansive menu offers something for everyone, and the regal and refined Mr Chow (702.731.7888), where signature dishes like hand-pulled noodles and green prawns are perfectly paired with champagne.
Across the boulevard at the Flamingo, the longest-standing casino resort on the Strip, a new classic emerged in 2020. Bugsy & Meyer’s Steakhouse (702.733.3111) pays tribute to the pink-hued property’s fabulous history with its vintage décor and style as well as a menu of greatest hits like avocado crab salad and Dover sole. At Paris Las Vegas, Mon Ami Gabi (702.944.4224) is one of the most celebrated brunch and lunch destinations in Vegas history, thanks to its sprawling indoor-outdoor space and favorite dishes such as chicken and mushroom crepes, quiche Lorraine, bananas Foster waffles and steak frites. But it’s a sleeper hit for supper as well, when you should sample the onion soup au gratin, trout amandine and roasted chicken.
And once you dine on that legendary patio and enjoy some of the best views of the Bellagio’s fountains, you’ll feel the need to visit that center Strip resort and lavish in its luxurious features. For a different perspective on those dancing waters, relax on the patio at Spago (702.693.8181), Wolfgang Puck’s first restaurant to land in Las Vegas at Caesars Palace. The hip café relocated to Bellagio a few years ago and provides a refreshed experience complete with signature dishes like smoked salmon pizza and veal wiener schnitzel, plus steaks grilled over white oak charcoal, chilled seafood and black truffle pasta. Spago remains a defining taste of Vegas.
Skipping off to downtown Las Vegas, a brand-new local concept is redefining the classic image of a casino noodle bar at the Circa Resort. The family behind ever-crowded Fremont East eatery Le Thai has opened 8 East (702.726.5508), a versatile pan-Asian spot on the casino’s second floor. Bold flavors are creating big buzz here with addictive bites like ginger chicken dumplings, pork belly bao, salt and Szechuan pepper chicken wings and cumin lamb lollipops. And check out the deals at 8 East’s happy hour.
The “other side” of downtown dining can be found in the Arts District along Main Street, and the restaurant everyone is talking about is Main St. Provisions (702.457.0111). Created by industry veterans Kim Owens and Justin Kingsley Hall, MSP is one of the most highly anticipated openings in recent history, making its debut during challenging circumstances in the winter and finding full support from affectionate locals. Hall’s comfort cuisine includes venison tataki, charcoal-roasted quail, New Orleans-style barbecue prawns and rabbit boudin sausage, demonstrating a range of influences and seasonality. This is the place to settle in and warm up.
When you’re talking comfort food, pizza is always at the top of everyone’s list of cravings. San Diego’s landmark Landini’s (702.205.2249) just opened its first Vegas location in the southwest valley, bringing its beloved thin-crust pies from Little Italy to Sin City. Other favorite dishes on this family-operated restaurant’s menu include meatballs with marina and ricotta, Buffalo chicken pizza, pasta puttanesca, baked eggplant parmigiana and unforgettable tiramisu. It doesn’t get more familiar or satisfying.
