The New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas is growing.
The Sphere has become a countdown partner for “America’s Party 2025,” where an eight-minute fireworks show will fill the air on the Strip starting at midnight to ring in a new year in one of the notable celebrations across the globe.
Those other celebrations will also be featured in a countdown on the Exosphere.
Starting at 5 a.m. PST on Dec. 31 with Sydney, Australia, the Sphere will display a countdown every hour to ring in the new year with other cities around the globe.
“It is a height. It is a spotlight on Las Vegas as a global city, a spotlight on our fans across the globe,” Hill said. “We’re really excited that the Sphere is going to be a part of this and allow us to celebrate New Year’s Eve everywhere this year.”
The “America’s Party” celebration will return for the 24th year, with Fireworks by Grucci choreographing the pyrotechnic show for the 20th year. Nine hotels are going to pop off fireworks from their roofs when the clock strikes midnight: MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Venetian, Treasure Island, Fontainebleau, Resorts World and the Strat.
Rainbow fan comets, silver sparkling pinwheels, specialty shapes like an octopus and mushroom shells, flashes and rapid-fire aerial shells will light up the sky above Las Vegas Boulevard in red, blue, yellow and silver — “mimicking the bright, brilliant Vegas lights,” said Scott Cooper, director of business development at Fireworks by Grucci.
The setup will take five days of installation atop the nine casinos and involve 12,000 electrical circuits. It calls on massive staffing — 71 pyrotechnicians, 90 additional security personnel, engineers and hotel staff, officials said.
And that’s to put on the finishing touches. Planning, developing and design for the annual show takes about 12 months, the fireworks company said.
The fireworks display will be choreographed to music, including Mariah Carey’s “Old Lange Syne,” followed by ZZ Top’s “Viva Las Vegas” cover, and “House of Memories” by Panic at the Disco.
The party will again extend outside of the Strip and into the Fremont Street Experience in downtown. The Plaza will have a fireworks show at midnight.
Andrew Simon, president and CEO of Fremont Street Experience, said the downtown party is “bigger and better than ever,” including a performance from rapper Flo Rida. The event — dubbed “NYE Time of Your Life Festival 2025” — begins at 7 p.m. and will feature performances from seven bands. Tickets start at $50.
Officials are planning for a celebration with 340,000 visitors, said Tim Keener, president of Las Vegas Events. Many of those patrons will be experiencing New Year’s Eve here for the first time.
“America’s Party 2025 is sure to be another event to remember,” Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson said. “We can’t wait to host this amazing celebration to ring in the new year; to ring in the new year all day long as we make our way through New Year’s Eve.”
