LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The City of Boulder City is allowing groups to apply for a permit to work on maintaining a streetscape four times a year.
This would be at the group’s convenience.
The city says maintaining 92 miles of public roads is hard to keep up with while commending their street and landscape crews’ work.
They say people litter, weeds grow quickly and wind causes garbage and debris to fly.
Community organizations and civic groups could now get a permit for “Adopt-A-Streetscape.” This effort hopes to beautify Boulder City’s streets.
“This could be a great opportunity for companies, social organizations, churches and others to accomplish worthwhile tasks that keep our streets looking great,” the city said.
Boulder City was inspired by the Nevada Department of Transportation’s “Adopt-A-Highway.” For 35 years, the program has allowed community groups and individuals to clean up highways.
“As someone who grew up in Boulder City, I know how much we take pride in mottos like ‘Clean, Green Boulder City’ and ‘Be Kind. Be Boulder’,” said Gary Poindexter, Public Works Director. “We value hard work, volunteerism, and a clean community. My experience in the Public Works Department has taught me that people genuinely care about this great community, and our dedicated City employees do what they can to make our city approachable and welcoming.”
