LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Henderson firefighters say three people are without a home after an early Tuesday morning fire.
Henderson Fire Department responded to a house fire in the 2200 block of Windsor Drive, near Warm Springs and Valle Verde, around 1:45 a.m. Further details about how the fire started were not immediately available, but three people have been displaced.
Not long after the fire was put out and crews left the scene, it sparked up again. FOX5 crews on scene noticed smoke coming out of the house again, so they called 911 and got Henderson Fire back to the scene to put it out.
A contractor who was surveying the damage told FOX5 there were two dogs and a parrot in the home that did not survive the fire.
“Since I found out there were animals that died, I’m upset about that because I’m an animal person,” neighbor Virginia Schilpp, who lives across the street from where the fire happened, told FOX5. “We have cats and dogs too, but I’m really glad that the people are okay. Unfortunately, you can always replace things but you can’t replace people, and that’s the most important thing.”
Red Cross has been called to the scene to assist.
No injuries were reported.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
