LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metro Police release new details after a woman’s body was found locked in a freezer in an east valley home.
LVMPD identified the victim as Monique Gilbertson. She is the owner of the mobile home.
Police say they received a call on Nov. 6 from the management office concerned about a homeowner within the community.
The office manager explained to police she had developed a relationship with Gilbertson in recent months. The manager grew concerned after days of not hearing from Gilbertson.
Officers conducting the welfare check say they knocked on the door for 45 minutes before Daniel Roush, who goes by “Jazlynn,” answered the door and spoke to police.
According to the arrest report, Roush explained they met Gilbertson at Home Depot. Gilbertson then reportedly offered Roush a place to stay in exchange for handy work around the home. Roush claimed to have paid Gilbertson a portion of rent while living there.
Roush told police Gilbertson was taking pain pills.
“Monique enjoyed her Kahlua drinks and took pain pills, but Jazlynn didn’t know what else Monique took because they didn’t ‘party’ together,” said Roush.
Roush said they were using meth but explained Gilbertson preferred opiates and cocaine.
Court documents revealed that Gilbertson believed Roush was stealing from her and attempted to evict them.
According to the report, police received conflicting stories from Roush regarding where Gilbertson was found dead in the home.
In one instance, Roush told police drugs were on the table, and Gilbertson’s stiff body was near the table with her head back. Then, moments later contradicted the original claim and said Gilbertson was found in a wooden chair in a bird room.
Roush told police they did not call 911 immediately because they did not know what to do.
“I put her in the icebox because I didn’t know what to do,” said Roush.
According to the arrest report, police also addressed Gilbertson‘s missing phone. Roush hesitantly said a friend stole the phone and sold it.
Police say Roush was concerned of what people may think of them.
“Crazy tranny came to the house and took her out,” shared Roush.
Official documents revealed the suspect’s wife, Gina Lopez Roush, initially told police she was unaware of Gilbertson‘s body being placed in the freezer.
Days later, in another interview with police, Lopez admitted to helping Roush purchase laced coke and fentanyl.
Gilbertson overdosed on the laced drugs Roush gave her, according to the report.
Lopez also confessed that she knew the body was in the freezer for at least four days.
Roush is set to appear in court on Nov. 13.
