LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas police have shot and killed an armed suspect in the southeast valley early Tuesday morning.
Around 12:40 a.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 6900 block of Wine River Drive, near Eastern Avenue.
“Upon arrival, officers observed vehicles with broken windows, bricks all over, as well as a window to the residence that was broken out,” Captain Kirk McKenzie shared during a media briefing.
Officers approached the residence, heard a loud noise, and entered the home. Inside, officers saw two individuals fighting, one of which had a knife.
One officer ordered the armed suspect to drop the knife, while another fired his weapon, striking the suspect.
The suspect was then taken to UMC hospital for treatment, where he would later die. The second suspect was also taken into custody.
“We’re early in the investigation,” Captain McKenzie stated.
Police also emphasized that there is no current danger to the public, as the event appears isolated.
This is the 13th OIS in the LVMPD jurisdiction.
