LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A new park opened in Las Vegas on Friday, just in time for the weekend.
Clark County Commissioner Justin Jones cut the ribbon for the grand opening of ‘Battle Born’ park on Oct. 25.
A large crowd attended the event as they came together in celebration of Nevada Day. The park is located at the corner of Jones and Silverado Ranch in the Southwest valley.
The park is near Reece Reis Elementary and Tarkanian Middle School.
Two Reese Ries fifth graders Jay-Sha Lynn and Jarrett Ilejay came up with the park’s name.
“Then I remembered oh wait, this is the battle born state. Why not just put battle born so I wrote battle born and then I submitted it,” said Reese Ries fifth grader Jarrett Ilejay.
Battle Born Park has covered playgrounds, playing fields, a splash pad and much more.
