LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A California earthquake was felt in the Las Vegas Valley Friday morning.
According to the Nevada Seismological Lab, a 4.7-magnitude earthquake hit near Stovepipe Wells in the northern part of Death Valley. That’s nearly 35 miles outside of Beatty in Nye County.
The quake hit at a depth of just over 1 mile beneath the epicenter but could be felt by Southern Nevada residents in the early morning hours.
The largest quake hit around 8:04 a.m., though several smaller quakes were reported in the area throughout the morning.
