LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The woman arrested for crashing into a family at a valley bus appeared in court today to hear her fate.
The Las Vegas woman was arrested last spring. On Oct. 21, she was sentenced to at least 15 years in prison.
64-year-old Cynthia Phelps pleaded guilty to multiple counts of driving under the influence.
In April, police say Phelps drove the wrong way on Boulder Highway when she hit a family of 5, killing two.
A survivor shared a message to the woman responsible for how she has impacted her life.
Amber Reedy, the wife and mother of the two killed, was seriously hurt in the crash.
She spoke at today’s sentencing.
“My son and my husband were dead because of everything that happened my kids suffered a lot because of the actions that are taken,” said Reedy.
Phelps’s public defender told the court she was sorry for what happened.
She believes she had a seizure and does not remember that night.
She did admit to having alcohol in her system.
