LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Two drivers are dead after colliding in the northeast valley early Sunday morning.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred at 1:03 a.m. at East Lake Mead Boulevard and North Sloan Lane. An initial investigation revealed that a 2003 Mercedes Benz was traveling west on Lake Mead at a high speed, while a 1991 Honda Prelude was traveling east.
Police stated that the Mercedes Benz struck the center median east of the intersection, began to rotate counterclockwise, and crossed into the eastbound lanes. The front of the Honda struck the passenger side of the Mercedes Benz.
Arriving emergency medical crews pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.
“This collision marks the 120th and 121st traffic-related fatalities in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2024,“ LVMPD noted in a release. ”This collision remains under investigation by the LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.”
