LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A motorcyclist is dead after a deadly crash in northwest Las Vegas on Sunday evening.
Around 6:23 p.m., officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to reports of the crash on North Rancho Drive at Ricky Road. An initial investigation determined that a 2011 Ford Econoline U-Haul truck was traveling north on Rancho and attempted to make a U-turn at Ricky. At the same time, a 2007 Honda CBR 600RR was traveling south on Rancho, approaching the intersection.
The collision occurred when the front of the Honda contacted the right side of the Ford, and the rider was ejected from the bike.
Arriving emergency medical services transported him to UMC Trauma, where he would later die.
The Ford driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, according to police.
“The motorcycle rider’s death marks the 116th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for 2024,” LVMPD noted in a release. “The collision remains under investigation by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section.”
