LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – UNLV is accepting applications for commissioned artwork to honor the victims of the Dec. 6 tragedy.
The artwork is intended to honor the three victims killed by a gunman who opened fire in Beam Hall last year. The call is open to all UNLV students, faculty, staff, and alumni 18 years or older.
Art can be submitted individually or as teams. Each artist or team is encouraged to submit their resumes and examples of previous artwork, especially large-scale works.
Selected artists or teams will receive $1,500 after signing an agreement with the Board of Regents of the Nevada System of Higher Education for the work.
Additional guidelines for the artwork emphasize that biographies of the victims can be used for reference, but must also “support healing, reflection, and recovery.”
The Memorial Committee is accepting applications until Wednesday, October 23. Artwork selected for the memorial will be placed on six columns at the entrance of Beam Hall in November.
