LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The trick-or-treat event on Water Street is canceled because of safety reasons, the Water Street District Business Association says.
FOX5 saw the announcement on Facebook Monday. The association says the city could not further support the event because of “attendee adherence to traffic and pedestrian laws.”
The association says there were about 3,000 attendees last year.
WSDBA and the City of Henderson says they are working to prepare the event for next year.
“We encourage trick or treaters, and businesses, to attend and participate in many of Henderson’s other Halloween focused community events, including Cadence Boo Bash occurring on the evening of October 19,” the association says. “Happy Halloween to all, and we would love to see you at Shop Small Henderson the Saturday after Thanksgiving!”
FOX5 reached out to the City of Henderson for further clarification. The city says many attendees were children who were trick-or-treating on both sides of Water Street. Traffic would still flow through downtown Henderson.
“After reviewing all options, the City was in support of WSDBA’s decision not to hold the event this year,” the city said.
