LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Neon City Fest announced Tuesday morning some changes to its headliners, despite only announcing them last week.
In a statement, festival organizers said Macklemore would “no longer be performing” due to “unforeseen circumstances.”
They added, “We are excited to announce new artists joining the NCF lineup shortly.”
Last Thursday. organizers held a unique ceremony to announce the festival’s headlining acts on Fremont Street. Alongside Macklemore, the headliners announced included the Neon Trees, Seven Lions, Alison Wonderland.
This comes after Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Haggerty, drew controversy for his comments during his performance at the “Palestine Will Live Forever” concert this weekend in Seattle.
“Straight up, say it. I’m not gonna stop you. I’m not gonna stop you,” Macklemore said to the crowd. “Yeah, F— America.”
It is unclear what the crowd was chanting prior to his comments, which were met with applause.
FOX5 has reached out to organizers for more details on the cancellation, but has yet to hear back.
This is a developing story, check back later for updates.
