LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A North Las Vegas elementary school was on a hard lockdown Thursday afternoon while police investigated a nearby shooting.
According to the North Las Vegas Police Department, two individuals fired several rounds from a handgun and threatened a motorist in the 3100 block of Emmons Avenue.
Tom Williams Elementary School was placed under a hard lockdown as a precaution.
In a letter to parents, Principal Carrie Reasbeck said students cannot be picked up from school until further notice. She added that they are complying with law enforcement and students are safe in their classrooms.
No injuries have been reported.
NLVPD says one suspect surrendered while the other fled into a nearby residence and then taken into custody. A firearm was also recovered from the scene.
