LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – After five long years of mainly sitting empty, there are some big steps forward in what’s next for Sam Boyd Stadium.
On Friday, Sept. 6, the UNLV Board of Regents and Clark County discussed transferring the property back to the county.
UNLV will get $5 million from the county, and the property must be used for public purposes.
The board explained keeping Sam Boyd stadium safe and secure is expensive.
UNLV President Keith Whitefield said it costs the University more than $500 thousand a year, and it’s hiring more security to keep people out.
