LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – People who live near U.S. 95 and Rainbow Boulevard were thrilled with the city’s response to trash that accumulated near the Bonanza Bike Trail. Residents say it’s been building up for a couple years.
Shortly after a FOX5 story, one big trash pile was cleaned up and Las Vegas City officials say a couple more piles would be removed too. FOX5 was told that trash was in a hard-to-reach area and other equipment would need to be brought in. That was about two weeks ago, and nearby residents are asking the city to finish the cleanup.
FOX5 again reached out to the city to ask what’s happening. Officials got back to us quickly and said they are checking.
People near the area say holes have been cut in a fenced off area, allowing people to get through. They say some homeless people set up camps and brought in trash. Residents tell FOX5 the city did send crews out and patched holes in the fence. Residents say they are appreciative of that work as well but are hoping the trash can be removed soon.
The city says citizens who have a similar issue where they live can reach out to City Marshals and the “conditions” team will check things. That number is 702-229-6444.
They said in addition, unhoused residents can contact “MORE” teams to help them with resources, at 702-229-MORE (6673).
