LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Vekslins spent the night on cots provided by the Red Cross at the Mirabelli Community Center on Sunday night
They said moving in together was supposed to mark the start of a new beginning, but after losing their unit to water damage from the fire, their next steps are up in the air.
“I was working, and I got a call from my brother,” Joshua explained. “Basically, he was saying ‘our apartment is on fire, you gotta come get your personal belongings,’”
On Sunday night, the Vekslins spent the night on cots provided by the Red Cross at the Mirabelli Community Center.
The following day, they loaded up what they have left into their cars, with no plan for where to go next.
“As of now, we’re not too sure what’s going on. We don’t even know how to get the rest of our stuff,” Joshua shared.
Rather than letting the uncertainty of their future get them down, they’re using it as a second chance at a fresh start.
“When you get hit with adversity in life, there’s certain things you gotta do. Instead of sitting back, we gotta get the ball rolling, we gotta find the next steps, and we gotta get back on our feet,” Noah expressed.
According to Las Vegas Fire and Rescue Officials, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
The Vekslin brothers said the apartment complex management team has been challenging to reach.
FOX5 has contacted the complex and will provide an update when we hear back.
