LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A three-vehicle crash claims the life of one person, and two drivers face reckless driving charges.
According to LVMPD, on Sept. 2, just after 1 a.m., two pickup trucks collided with an SUV near N. Eastern Avenue and Searles Avenue.
Police responded to the scene and discovered the RAM 2500 and GMC were driving South on North Eastern Avenue at high speeds, which caused the RAM to hit the passenger side of a Chevrolet SUV.
Officers found the RAM overturned and had collided with a power utility pole.
LVMPD said after the SUV and RAM collided, a GMC hit the back of the Chevy.
The Chevrolet driver and RAM were taken to University Medical Center Trauma Center. According to medical personnel, the driver of the SUV died due to his injuries.
According to reports, the injuries sustained by the drive of the RAM have been stabilized. The driver continues to receive medical treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at UMC.
The driver of the GMC remained on the scene, and impairment was not suspected, said police.
The drivers of the two pickup trucks are facing charges for the death and bodily harm of the person who was driving the Chevrolet.
According to LVMPD, this marks the 101 traffic-related deaths in the department’s jurisdiction this year so far. This number comes in right at the end of the 100 deadliest days of summer, which is expected to end on Labor Day.
