LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Deputies with the Cochise County Sheriff’s Department arrested two Las Vegas men on “human smuggling” charges earlier this week.
On Wednesday, Aug. 28, around 1:52 p.m., deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a 2015 Chevy Silverado with Nevada license plates. Deputies say the truck was observed pulling over near Highway 92 and South Hereford Road before a male dressed in camouflage quickly approached and entered the vehicle.
Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the driver failed to yield and the man dressed in camo ran from the truck. The two men inside the vehicle were arrested and identified as Casey Olaf Sandoval and Julio Gutierrez.
Both men were 25 years old, and each had outstanding charges out of Nevada. Deputies noted that Sandoval had a previous attempted murder charge and Gutierrez had an outstanding warrant for felony robbery.
Both were booked into the Cochise County Jail on felony Human Smuggling charges.
U.S. Border Patrol was also called to the scene, and would later locate the man who fled from the truck.
The investigation is being continued by the Cochise County Sheriff’s Office.
