LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Nevada State Police say they placed one of its own on administrative leave after the arrest of a man accused in a deadly crash.
Claude Rafiki was sentenced to 4 to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in a Laughlin crash late March. Rafiki was driving a semi.
He killed three people on motorcycles. They were identified as Jeremy George Gebo, 44; Owen Merrell Hart, 22; and Athena Faye Taylor, 21. They are all from St. George, Utah.
Rafiki initially faced DUI charges but he was only convicted on reckless driving charges.
Nevada State Police say they are not able to provide specific details on personnel matters, including disciplinary measures.
Police did confirm they placed an employee on paid administrative leave during an investigation.
